Or to put it another way: ‘Why does everyone suddenly hate Coldplay?’
Neil Diamond. Dolly Parton. They used to be uncool, but now they’re cool.
Coldplay. They used to be cool, but now they’re uncool.
Confused? So are we. Fortunately, Eddie can explain all.
Who would you add to our list of rehabilitated/newly pilloried stars? And do you hate the obvious music tastes of white, middle-class, thirtysomething men as much as Andrea? Don’t hold back now…

Further to my magnanimous comments in this month’s BSB, I’d just like to add that I agree with Eddie – after a promising start (I still like their first CD) Coldplay very quickly degenerated into plodding, bland, corporate-esque, stadium-orientated, one-dimensional, artistically value-less peddlers of musical wallpaper.
I personally think they’re the new Status Quo, and will be trotting out chugga-chugga guitar rock for the next five decades, by which time Chris Martin – a la the one out of Status Quo with the ponytail whose name I’ve forgotten – will also be forced to get hair implants in order to maintain their fanbase.
I rest my case.

Tom – you say “they’re the new Status Quo” like it’s a bad thing…

Is Tom Baker still cool? Long scarves are surely making a comeback.
