WHO SHOULD BE THE BIG-SCREEN DOCTOR WHO?

21/07/2008

…and David Tennant’s new assistant, now that Catherine Tate’s gone?

A few of the suggestions from the podcast:

Julian Barratt (he’s the one on the right)

National embarrassment Lovable eccentric Boris Johnson

Peaches Geldof (now we’re just getting silly)

So, what about you? (As in: who do you think. Not: would you like to be the big-screen Doctor Who/David Tennant’s new assistant).  Give us your suggestions in a comment below. We promise to pass them on to Stephen Moffatt/the studio bigwigs. No, really. We do. We have contacts. And they really do pay attention to us. No, really. They do.

How about Michelle Ryan from Jekyll and Bionic Woman? She’s quite lovely and sassy. Although it was nice having someone a bit older and more real with Catherine Tate (whom I loved). Do you really have contacts at Whovian headquarters?

  2. Catherine Says:

Actually, you know, I’ve changed my mind. I want Donna back. I wouldn’t care how flimsy the excuse was to get around the fact that the Doctor said she would implode if she ever remembered. She was great and series 4 was great.

  3. Sean Says:

Maybe we could start a campaign to bring Donna back? Maybe Donna could team up with Jenna Jameson? Maybe I am obsessing.

Catherine, I’m with you on the Catherine Tate thing*, and don’t understand why she was quite so pilloried. I thought it was great to have someone who was more like his ‘mate’. Mind you, I’m about the only person in Britain who’s never watched The Catherine Tate Show, so I wasn’t fed up of her like everyone else…

*hang on – you’re not Catherine Tate, are you?

  5. Catherine Says:

Ha! No, no… Wallace is my last name and I’m from Australia. I do rather love Catherine Tate now (I don’t even think three series of The CT Show could dampen the love). And I agree entirely with what you said about Donna being his mate.
On a side note: I listened to your podcast for the first time the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it!

  6. bingoandrea Says:

thank you! :-) are you actually listening to it in Australia, or are you in Britain but just happen to be Australian?! ;-)

  7. Catherine Says:

I’m actually in Australia – in Brisbane, Queensland. Don’t tell me I’m the first person to listen to your podcast from the other side of the world?!

  8. Sean Says:

Fear not. As a fellow Aussie I can vouchsafe that BS Bingo has quite a few fans downunder.

  9. Catherine Says:

    Hooray!

  10. Catherine Says:

Hey Sean, I’m with you on the campaign to bring Donna back! I think we should get on to it :) Where in Australia are you from?

  11. bsbingo Says:

Born in Brizzy, raised in Adelaide and residing in London since 1989. Now I’m trying to convince the others to relocate the podcast to a villa in Tuscany :)

  12. jo Says:

Catherine tate should remain. Arent you all tired of dr who assistants falling in love with him or if not making it so bleedin obvious. Good grief. Bring it in Catherine

  13. bingoandrea Says:

couldn’t agree with you more, Jo – I like the fact that Donna is, above all, the Doctor’s buddy.

that said, if I was ever to be his assistant, I would of course fall in love with him. or rather: he’d fall in love with me.

Sean – re. this ‘villa in Tuscany’ idea. could a possible list for the next episode be ‘Places we would like to relocate the podcast to’?

  14. Victoria Says:

What about Tom Baker? He’s my fave!

  15. bingoandrea Says:

he’s everyone’s fave! well, between the ages of 25 and 40, at least:
