Episode 18 – Arousing adverts, disappearing manners and why even Joanna Lumley should fiddle her expenses!

22/06/2009

This month sees BSB leave no stone un-turned and no stop un-pulled-out, as we sprinkle our satirical fairy dust over everyone from Guy Ritchie to Hazel Blears to people who forget to wave at us as they drive past in their BMW X5.

Among numerous (well, OK, four) topics of conversation, we discuss the advertisements that have made us tingle with consumer excitement, including this one from Coca Cola.

This one from the, er, Coca Cola Corporation.

And this one from the Birds Eye Corporation.

Not to mention a comedy routine from the late, great Bill Hicks about – whadda ya know? – the Coca Cola Corporation.

In addition, we want you to tell us why good manners have become a thing of the past (or, if you’re not as avid a reader of the Daily Mail as Sean, why good manners are alive and well and haven’t gone away at all). In order to start the ball rolling, here’s a site we discovered that conclusively proves how no one gives a damn any more about priority seating on public transport:

As a polite American waiter, waitress or bartender might say: Enjoy, and have a nice day!

Double acts we have known and loved (or possibly loathed)

20/03/2009

In Episode 16 of BSB, we got to talking about a well-known double act, whose personal lives have been almost as colourful as their wardrobe:

richardjudypa_468x417

So, by way of a tenuous link, we thought it would be interesting to incorporate the twinset theme into our next episode – ie. which were the greatest double acts of all time?

Some people might say these two deserve to be crowned kings of the two-person pantheon:

467

Others would opt for a more heavyweight duo (or more comical, depending on your point of view):

bush-cheney

As trusted listeners to BSB, what do you think? Which funny man / straight man or good cop / bad cop pairings have achieved true greatness in the long history of a couple of people doing stuff together?

EPISODE 15 – INAUGURATION FEVER, CELEBRITY ENCOUNTERS, OSCAR TRAVESTIES AND THE SEXIEST NATIONALITIES

02/02/2009

Yes! We! Did! Record another episode of the podcast, that is.

225px-poster-sized_portrait_of_barack_obama

A new year, a new dawn, and a new edition of the Bullshit Bingo podcast – bringing you Change You Can Believe In from around a table in a front room in Clapham. Well, it’s what Obama would want, isn’t it?

We kick off 2009 with our 15th – count ’em! – episode. During which we discuss big important world events – our man in Washington reporting back from the inauguration –  plus the celebrities we’ve met, the biggest Oscar travesties, and the races of people who set our pulses, well, racing.

And we need your help again for next month. Please. Pretty please? We’d like to know which newsreaders do it for you – you know, sex-wise. Not delivering-the-story-well-wise – and also about your most hated management-speak. (If, indeed, you work in a Proper Office like Sean and Eddie, and actually come across management-speak. Tom and Andrea are creative slackers, so are more used to blogger-speak.)

Enjoy the podcast – no, please. Do – and leave your comments on this blog, or on the Book of Face, where we’ll shortly be setting up a fan page. Or whatever it is The Kids do these days. (Link to Facebook to follow shortly.)

It’s good to have us you back.

Lots of love, and thanks for listening,

The BSB Team

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS

23/12/2008

In Episode 14, we discuss our highlights of 2008 – including this little fella:

walle

This over-achieving fella:

And these similarly over-achieving fellas and gals:

Nice to see some human achievement though, isn’t it? And that’s just the people at Pixar.

NEW YORK, LONDON, PARIS, MUNICH…

24/11/2008

nyc1…everybody’s talking about which is the most polite city.

New York topped a recent survey to find the most polite city in the world – no, really – while our own beloved London scored rather poorly.

The BSB team discuss their experiences of the Big Apple, the Big Smoke, and the Big Hello Kitty. Or whatever Tokyo is known as.

Which city has Sean found to be the most helpful whenever his bike breaks down?

In which city did Eddie get asked for money in rhyme?

And where did Tom hear nothing but praise for Londoners (clue: it wasn’t in London)?

Listen to Episode 13 to find out!

Photograph taken by Andrea, on one of her many trips to New York where people were unfailingly polite to her.

EPISODE 11 – BOARD GAMES, CONSPIRACY THEORIES, FILM THEME SONGS – AND OLYMPIC ATHLETES WE FANCY

31/08/2008

The name’s Thompson. Daley Thompson.

It’s the August podcast – and Tom’s missing. Has he been kidnapped by aliens? No, because that would be a conspiracy theory, and we don’t believe those.

Yes, we’re back – back! – and this month, we’re pontificating about the greatest ever film theme songs, the most believable conspiracy theories, the board games we used to know and love, and the athletes we know and would love to do.

Technical note: because Tom is our technical guru, Andrea and Sean had to learn how to record and edit this podcast using Fisher Price’s My First Podcasting Software – so it sounds ever-so-slightly different from our usual episodes. Hopefully, however, we still retain our charm.

CONSPIRACY THEORIES: THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE. SOMEWHERE.

31/08/2008

To promote the new X Files movie I Want To Believe, a poll of British adults shows that they want to believe… any old rubbish.

Did the American government orchestrate 9/11? Was Princess Diana murdered? Were the moon landings faked? Is Lindsay Lohan for real?

Discuss.

PILFS: POLITICIANS WE’D LIKE TO FUCK

13/06/2008

There aren’t many, let’s make clear right from the get-go.  The BS Bingo team, however, has scoured the political landscape in search of suitably ‘do-able’ politicos.

Here then is our list.  See if you can guess which BS Bingo contributor voted for whom…

CONDOLEEZZA RICE

Rice Rice Baby?  We’re as shocked as you are…

LYNNE FEATHERSTONE

Not quite on a par with the US Secretary of State, but some of us would put it in.

BILL CLINTON

Still smokin’ after all these years – I’m sorry.

And last, but by no means least, JULIA GOLDSWORTHY

The Lib Dems get all the PILFS…

EPISODE 6 – IT’S A GIRL

27/01/2008

This episode sees our ranks swell to include a new member!

We welcome in the new year by welcoming Andrea, jazz singer to the stars and wit extraordinaire.

We also revisit the US primaries, take another pulse reading of the music industry, groan at the prospect of new year resolutions and then cheer ourselves up by thinking happy thoughts.

The making of this podcast saw us quaff wine and pasta – but in separate containers.

Thanks so much for you loyal listenership; we love you for loving us – just like Jesus, or Tom Cruise even.

PS. Apologies for the distort on some of the chat.
