EPISODE 13 – POLITE CITIES, UNDERRATED POP STARS, FILMS THAT MAKE US CRY… AND FANCIABLE DEAD PEOPLE

24/11/2008

Not being the superstitious type, the Bullshit Bingo team decide to record a 13th episode of their podcast

So, the Free World has a new leader (sorry, un-Free World!) – and to celebrate, the Bullshit Bingo team, erm, talk about things again. You’ll be pleased to know that Andrea and her Very Loud Voice are back… although next time we’ll put her down a corridor somewhere. Or in an adjacent room. We’re sure you’ll still be able to hear her.

In Episode 13, we discuss films that make us cry, the most underrated musos, polite and impolite cities… and dead people we fancy. When they were alive, that is. Click below to listen, scroll down to read more about each topic – and please share your thoughts via the medium of ‘Comments’.

Oh, and we’re trying something new this time – we’ve come up with a couple of topic ideas for the December podcast, so would love to know your views on The Fancy Dress Costumes That Do It For You, and Musicians You Respect But Don’t Actually Like. We’ll discuss them – including your suggestions – next month. Now that’s change you can believe in!

DEAD PEOPLE WE’D LIKE TO BONK

24/11/2008

Never let it be said that the Bullshit Bingo team speak ill of the dead. We speak very well of the dead. So well, in fact, that we discuss which of them we fancy.

Yes, this month’s ‘group of people we’d like to do’* is DPILFS. They include –

jamesdean

and

marilyn

– but were those chosen by the male or female members of the group?! Ahaaa! You’ll have to listen to Episode 13 to find out. And here are some more visual references as you do so:

Lupe Vélez (caramba!) –

Lupe Velez.jpg

and femme fatale Ida Lupino-

Sadly, both of these ladies only existed in black and white. I don’t have the heart to tell Tom and Eddie.

So – who makes your list of DPILFs? Do tell! Via the medium of a comment below, preferably.

*Note to newcomers: The discussion of a group of ‘…ILFS’ is a regular segment on Bullshit Bingo

IT’S ENOUGH TO MAKE A GROWN MAN CRY

24/11/2008

Forget what you’ve heard: big boys do cry. Well, the Bullshit Bingo boys do. They – and me, BSB’s token female – discuss which movies have made us blub like girls. They include a modern Pixar classic, a seasonal favourite, a story about a loveable alien (no, not ALF) and this:

ghost1

Listen to Episode 13 to find out what possible excuse Eddie could have for crying at Ghost. I know – it had better be a good one.

And do tell us which films made you cry. Although not because they were a dire romcom that wasted millions of dollars which could have been better spent bringing clean water to the Third World. Yes, You, Me And Dupree, I mean you.

NEW YORK, LONDON, PARIS, MUNICH…

24/11/2008

nyc1…everybody’s talking about which is the most polite city.

New York topped a recent survey to find the most polite city in the world – no, really – while our own beloved London scored rather poorly.

The BSB team discuss their experiences of the Big Apple, the Big Smoke, and the Big Hello Kitty. Or whatever Tokyo is known as.

Which city has Sean found to be the most helpful whenever his bike breaks down?

In which city did Eddie get asked for money in rhyme?

And where did Tom hear nothing but praise for Londoners (clue: it wasn’t in London)?

Listen to Episode 13 to find out!

Photograph taken by Andrea, on one of her many trips to New York where people were unfailingly polite to her.

THE MOST UNDERRATED POP STARS

24/11/2008

Recognise this man?

tr

No?  Well, that’s because he really should be more famous.

Listen to Episode 13 to find out who he is, who he might possibly have had angry sex with – and which other musicians we think are greatly underrated. (Note: Bucks Fizz not featured this time.)

And do tell us who *you* think is great, and yet insufficiently recognised. (Note: Bucks Fizz are allowed. I wish I’d said Five Star, too.)
